Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company Limited (HAECO) recently organised a visit to a local paper recycling facility, where the recycling business is unique in Hong Kong. During the visit, staff learnt about the recycling process of wastepaper and paper beverage cartons. They gained deeper understanding and insights into environmental protection, as well as the collaborative efforts to build a sustainable community.
HAECO was inspired to take action and partnered with the facility to launch a week-long trial to recycle used hand paper towels in its toilets. Used hand paper towels are ideal for recycling after proper treatment, as their brief usage usually keeps them clean and in good condition. The initiative successfully diverted 160 kilogrammes of paper waste from landfills. It also raises staff awareness about paper consumption and fosters recycling habits. This successful experience reinforces HAECO’s commitment to its sustainable development target of diverting 65% of waste from landfill by 2030.
